Part-Time Shipping & Receiving Associate

Job Description

The Part-Time Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the warehouse by accurately processing incoming and outgoing shipments. This role includes receiving, inspecting, and documenting deliveries; preparing and packaging outbound orders; organizing inventory; and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. The position requires regular collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate order fulfillment, timely communication, and smooth workflow across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and efficiency are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine method of shipment and prepare bills, invoices, and other shipping documents using company software and carrier software.
  • Assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Perform any special preparation required on specific items prior to shipment, including labeling of the product.
  • Ensure international shipments are appropriately packed and shipped in accordance with export regulations with all paperwork and documentation.
  • Know proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks, etc.
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages, and reject damaged goods.
  • Ensure quality inspection is performed during receiving to insure the items stocked meet the specifications of the PO.
  • Unpack and route goods to appropriate areas.
  • Assist with management of inventory, including cycle counts when needed.
  • Operate forklift, hand truck, or other equipment to load, unload, and transport goods from small packages to large machinery.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are followed and modeled.
  • Know safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.
  • Works with Panel Shop Supervisor in addressing space usage and storage options.
  • Oversee general maintenance for building
  • Clearing walkways of snow/salting of sidewalks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience and/or Training: 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills, and ability to interpret written and verbal information.

Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a reliable vehicle are requirements of this role.

Technology/Equipment: Computing/Software Skills including ability to learn company ERP system, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to utilize platforms: UPS, FedEx Online shipping programs, Ship Gear, and Intera Software.

Occasionally works outside in all weather conditions.

Working Environment

The noise level in the work environment is from moderate to loud. Remote work is not an option for this position.
