The Shipping/Receiving/Facilities Associate performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks such as receiving, inspecting, and distributing supplies and equipment and prepares items for shipping. The Shipping/Receiving/Facilities Associate oversees and performs general maintenance of the building, and trains new associates and provides refresher training in forklift operation. This position reports to the Business Operations Manager.
SHIPPING & RECEIVING
- Determine method of shipment and prepare bills, invoices and other shipping documents using company software and carrier software.
- Assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.
- Perform any special preparation required on specific items prior to shipment, including labeling of the product.
- Ensure international shipments are appropriately packed and shipped in accordance with export regulations with all paperwork and documentation.
- Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks, etc.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
- Ensure Quality inspection is performed during receiving to insure the items stocked meet the specifications of the PO.
- Unpack and route goods to appropriate areas.
- Assist Business Operations Assistant and Procurement with management of inventory, including cycle counts when needed
- Operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, and transport goods from small packages to large machinery.
- Ensure all safety requirements are followed and modeled.
- Know safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.
- Know proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
- Provides training for new associates and refresher training for associates operating the forklift.
FACILITIES
- Oversees general maintenance for building i/e maintains HVAC, plumbing, lighting etc.
- Provides management with list of issues for preventive maintenance/upgrades.
- Works with the management team to develop, plan, manage, and execute building/campus upgrades and remodeling projects.
- Works with Panel Shop Supervisor in addressing space usage and storage options.
- Clearing walkways of snow/salting of sidewalks
- Oversees maintenance of company assets i/e trailers (tires, bearings, electrical wiring)
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required; College Degree preferred
- 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience developing systems and tools to assist in expediting the shipping and receiving processes Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills.
- A valid driver’s license, insurance and a reliable automobile are requirements of this role.
- Experience with Computing/Software, including Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics, Microsoft Office Suite, UPS, FedEx Online shipping programs, Ship Gear, and Intera Software.
- Able to lift/move up to 100 lbs.
- Work outside/in all weather conditions, occasionally.
- May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. day.
