Electro-Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

The Electro-Mechanical Assembler works independently or as part of a team to build custom automation and robotic equipment from engineering drawings, assembly prints, electrical schematics, and work instructions. This position is primarily focused on supporting Sure Controls’ Robotics Team through mechanical assembly, cable routing, wire and cable termination, equipment wiring, and integration of electrical components into custom machinery. Secondary responsibilities include industrial control panel assembly and panel wiring

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Consistent delivery of a positive customer experience as evident through high-quality workmanship, minimal defects, and timely project completion.
  2. Willingness to assist Sure Controls associates and support cross-functional project teams.
  3. Accountable to committed tasks including overtime as needed to meet project schedules.
  4. Prioritize workload effectively while managing multiple projects and assignments.
  5. Interpret and follow mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and bills of material.
  6. Perform mechanical assembly of robotic systems, automated machinery, machine frames, and custom equipment.
  7. Install mechanical components including brackets, actuators, gearboxes, sensors, guarding, pneumatic devices, and other system components.
  8. Route, label, secure, and terminate power, control, communication, and network cables according to engineering and industry standards.
  9. Perform point-to-point wiring and electrical integration of machine components.
  10. Assemble and wire industrial control panels and operator stations as required.
  11. Install and terminate motors, drives, sensors, robots, safety devices, and other automation equipment.
  12. Verify assemblies for accuracy, alignment, functionality, and compliance with engineering specifications.
  13. Identify and communicate drawing discrepancies, material shortages, quality concerns, or improvement opportunities to Engineering, Project Managers, and Shop Leadership.
  14. Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities alongside engineers and technicians.
  15. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper tool storage, housekeeping, and adherence to safety standards.
  16. Follow all company safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  17. Assist with value-add distribution assembly and other shop activities as needed.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience and/or Training: 2+ years of mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, machine building, automation equipment assembly, or related experience. Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and assembly equipment. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills. Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and assembly techniques.

Technology/Equipment: Computing/Software Skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience utilizing SolidWorks is preferred.

Physical and Mental Demands

Sit, stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods

Speak and hear communications

Ability to distinguish wire colors and follow wiring diagrams

Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds

May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM schedule to support project deadlines

Working Environment

The noise level in the work environment is from moderate to loud. This position works primarily within a manufacturing and assembly environment supporting robotics, automation, and control system projects. Remote work is not available for this position.
