In-House Controls Technician

Job Description

The In-House Controls Technician provides in-house service for temperature, pressure, and other related process controllers. The technician works closely with external and internal teams to diagnose system issues, implement improvements, and ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·          Be the owner of the Sure Controls repairs process from both the hands-on side and customer-facing sides.

·          Quoting and placing of repair orders using CRM and ERP software

·          Provide service and support for instrumentation, controls, and field elements.

·          Configure and test new process controls and instrumentation prior to shipping.

·          Provide value add services and assembly, including Cable builds, machine guarding, and custom modifications.   

·          Understand procedures and utilize documentation to support ISO 17025 certified calibrations.

·          Identify opportunities and create sales of equipment utilized in process control systems while servicing components.

·          Assist senior technicians with field calibrations and service, as needed.

·          Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Two-year Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Automation, Industrial Maintenance or related filed or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and/or Training: 1 year related experience and/or training in electrical or electronics. Customer Support experience required. Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills.  Knowledge and experience with process controls used in an industrial setting preferred. Able to provide customer technical phone support and new application development and support a plus.

Technology/Equipment: Computing/Software Skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Four-year Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Automation, Industrial Maintenance or related filed or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and/or Training 3 years related experience and/or training in electrical or electronics. Customer Support experience required. Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills. Knowledge and experience with process controls used in an industrial setting preferred. Able to provide customer technical phone support and new application development and support a plus.

Technology/Equipment: Computing/Software Skills including CRM Systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical and Mental Demands

Sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Speak and hear communications.

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Occasional travel (local, national, international) is required.

May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. day.

Working Environment

The noise level in the work environment is from moderate to loud. Remote work is not available for this position.  Travel required for this position is up to 10%.
