Systems Integration Engineer – SCADA

The Systems Integration Engineer – SCADA is responsible for developing plant floor communication systems allowing data acquisition across the manufacturing floor, inclusive of our customer’s machine assets and their business systems.  The development includes programming, sales support, designing, implementing, and servicing.  Primary focus is on HMI and SCADA packages.  Because of our focus on families and the proximity of our customers, a minimal amount of local travel is required.  This position involves field and/or remote work, up to 40% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consistent delivery of a positive customer experience as evident through customer request for your specific service and top scores on customer surveys
  • Willingness to assist other Sure Controls associates

  • Assist project managers from definition to installation and customer acceptance.
    • Maintain cost and schedule tracking of projects against quoted price and delivery.
    • Develop and maintain project milestones and support documentation.
    • Provide communication to customers and internal team members.
    • Lead and/or support start-up of systems in our shop and at the customer site
  • Create viable project plans and network topology diagrams and execute them to achieve goals of the customer.
  • Understand networking technologies and concepts.
  • Understand relational database concepts.
  • Effective use of reporting tools to generate dashboards for viewing of key performance metrics.
  • Perform programming and development of PLC (AB Control/Compact Logix) and operator interface systems.
  • Provide design, troubleshooting, service and support for jobs including HMI or SCADA systems, both in our shop and at a customer site.
  • Develop leadership at Sure Controls around Business Intelligence systems and applications.
  • Contribute to a positive P&L statement.
  • Participate in after-hours and be on-call 1-2 weeks per year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The Systems Integration Engineer – SCADA should have a familiarity with all of the following technologies and have, or be able to develop, a proficiency in:
    • Networking hardware such as switches, routers, wireless devices, etc.
    • Databases (such as SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Access, historians, etc.)
    • Query and Reporting tools
    • Programming environments such as Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, .Net, JSON
    • SCADA/HMI Applications (Wonderware, Ignition, I-Fix, FactoryTalk, WinCC, Crimson, TIA Portal)

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education: Some college, in Computer Science, Software Engineer or similar.

Experience and/or Training: 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components.  Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills.  Experience working with customers and vendors.

Licenses/Certificates: N/A

Technology/Equipment: Computing/Software Skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.  The Systems Integration Engineer – SCADA should have a familiarity with all of the following technologies and have, or be able to develop, a proficiency in: Networking hardware such as switches, routers, wireless devices, etc., Data Acquisition and management (using SQL, MySQL, Access, historians, etc.), Query and Reporting tools, Programming environments such as Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, .Net and SCADA/HMI Applications (Wonderware, Ignition, I-Fix, FactoryTalk, WinCC, Crimson, TIA Portal).

Preferred Qualifications:

Education Associates or BA/BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Experience and/or Training 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components.  Strong Communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking), Time Management skills. Experience working with customers and vendors.

The Systems Integration Engineer – SCADA should have a familiarity with all of the following technologies and have, or be able to develop, a proficiency in: Networking hardware such as switches, routers, wireless devices, etc., Data Acquisition and management (using SQL, MySQL, Access, historians, etc.), Query and Reporting tools, Programming environments such as Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, .Net and SCADA/HMI Applications (Wonderware, Ignition, I-Fix, FactoryTalk, WinCC, Crimson, TIA Portal).

Physical and Mental Demands:

Sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Occasional travel (local, national, international) is required.

May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. day., and on-call on some weekends (2 – 3 per year).

Participate in after-hours and be on-call 1-2 weeks per year.

Working Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is from moderate to loud.  Occasional remote work may be an option for this position. Occasional travel is required. May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30-4:30 day.
